We make a big batch of green smoothies every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
I call them our health insurance policy. Even on the days where our diet is not ideal, I at least know that my family has gotten a big dose of fruits and veggies.
Here is what I put in our green smoothies:
- Kale (2 BIG handfuls)
- Spinach (2 BIG handfuls)
- Parsley (1 small handful)
- Celery (3 ribs)
- Carrots (3 long)
- Cucumber (1/3)
- Apple (1 gala sliced with peel, no seeds)
- Pear (1 sliced with skin)
- Banana (1)
- Lemon (3/4 with seeds and peel removed)
- Avocado (peel and seed removed)
- Spirulina powder (1 TBSP)
- Wheat grass powder (1 TBSP)
- Garden of Life Super Greens powder (1 scoop)
We add 3.5 cups of filtered water to the blender and add kale, spinach, and parsley. Blend well and then add the remaining ingredients. Blend and distribute into 6 cups.
We use Tervis tumblers right now with lids that close. You want to cover tightly to reduce oxidation.
