Those are just some basic nutrition facts. Want to know what has less sugar than the Starbucks Iced Mocha? A Glazed Dunkinโ Doughnut! ๐ฉ
Now, letโs look at the ingredient list:
Starbucks Iced Mocha
Ice, Milk, Mocha Sauce (water, sugar, cocoa processed with alkali, Natural Flavor), Brewed Expresso, Whipped Cream [cream, (cream, mono and diglycerides, carrageenan), Vanilla Syrup (sugar, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, citric acid]
**Contains dairy
Koia Cold Brew Protein
Almond milk (filtered water, almonds), Koia proprietary protein blend (brown rice protein, pea protein, chickpea protein), cold brew coffee, chicory root fiber, organic cane sugar, natural flavors, sunflower lecithin, potassium citrate, sea salt, monk fruit extract, locust bean gum and gellan gum.
**Dairy free, gluten free, and vegan
Starbuckโs Iced Mocha is actually one of their lowest sugar containing drinks. For example, a 12oz Peppermint Mocha contains 42g of sugar and a 12oz Salted Caramel Mocha contains 46g.
According to the American Heart Association women should consume no more than 20 grams of sugar a day and men no more than 36 grams. (I personally think both recommendations are too high)
With that being said, a tall Peppermint Mocha is more than ๐๐๐๐๐๐ the recommended amount of sugar for the entire day.
And donโt get me started on their sugar-free syrup options. They contain sucralose which is simply an artificial sweetener, which I HIGHLY recommend you avoid at all costs. Did you know that sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar? No wonder so many people are saying they are addicted to zero calorie or sugar free drinks.
