My family and I just returned from Disney and we had the BEST time! This was my first time at Disney World after going plant-based and I was a little concerned about being able to find vegan food in the parks. Surprisingly, it was very easy to stick to this lifestyle while on vacation. In fact, on October 3rd 2019, Disney World launched their plant-based menu icon and introduced more than 400 new vegan dishes! This is coming to Disneyland in Spring 2020.
Here are my top tips for eating plant-based at Disney World!
1. We stayed off property at a newer resort called The Grove Resort Orlando. There were 6 of us total and we chose a 3 bedroom suite with a full kitchen. This resort was amazing for so many reasons and I highly recommend it! Check it out here: https://www.groveresortorlando.com/ Having a kitchen was essential to eating well while on vacation. We ate about 5-6 meals at restaurants and then the rest of the meals were made in our suite kitchen.
2. If you’re staying at a resort with a kitchen, look into having groceries delivered. I ordered groceries online from Publix and had them delivered to the resort. An employee brought them up to our room for us. Super easy and convenient!
3. Plan ahead and bring some essentials with you. I packed individual baggies of my dry smoothie ingredients so I could whip up a healthy protein shake every day. I also packed some snacks to bring in the parks in case we got hungry and couldn’t find something healthy nearby. I packed Kind Bars, gluten free pretzels, almond butter packets, bananas, dried apples, etc.
4. Check out https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/plant-based/ to see all of the plant-based options at each park as well as Disney Springs. There are a ton of options! If the restaurant allows, use the Disney World app to mobile order so you don’t have to wait in line!
5. There is no such thing as eating perfectly and vacation is about enjoying yourself! I had some Pineapple Dole Whip and other yummy treats and loved every bite! I found balance by exercising at the resort and making sure to get my green drinks in! I never felt deprived and came home feeling great.
So there you have it, you can absolutely stick to a plant-based lifestyle while visiting Disney World!
