Did you know that food sensitivities can be causing your seasonal allergies?
First off, let’s talk about what seasonal allergies are. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, allergies are actually disorders of the immune system. The body overreacts to harmless substances and produces antibodies to attack the substance. This is what causes the symptoms. (1)
What are seasonal allergy symptoms?
1. Congestion
2. Post-nasal drip
3. Itchy, watery eyes
4. Runny Nose
5. Eczema
6. Sneezing
7. Scratchy throat
8. Brain fog
9. Hives
10. Asthma
11. Middle ear infections
12. Irritability
13. Exhaustion and trouble sleeping
and more!
If you seek out medical help for seasonal allergies, many times your doctor will prescribe an antihistamine, corticosteroids, decongestants, and/or OTC drugs. The problem with these is they do not address the underlying reason WHY your immune system is over reacting to certain environmental factors. You’ll likely be on these medications for life and many times, they stop working altogether.
So, how can food be causing your seasonal allergies?
The majority of individuals with food allergies have seasonal allergies, such as hay fever. Of the 15 to 20% of the population with hay fever, 50% have oral allergy syndrome or contact dermatitis (skin rash from direct contact to allergen) or less commonly gastrointestinal symptoms. (2)
The most common form of hay fever is birch allergy and oral allergy syndrome occurs in up to 80% with birch allergy after eating a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, and nuts. (3)
Nutrition Response Testing will uncover any potential food sensitivities as well as support the body’s immune system. Once you complete the program, you are left with little to no symptoms and a much stronger immune system!
