My Personal Health Journey

A memory popped up on my Facebook feed this morning from 7 years ago and it reminded me just how far I have come and how beautifully challenging that journey has been. The memory was of a simple recipe that I shared.

The recipe was loaded with eggs, cottage cheese (low-fat) and a plethora of shredded cheese. It did include cauliflower though!

See, over 7 years ago, I suffered a miscarriage, resigned from my career in banking, and went back to school for nutrition. The girl that shared that recipe didn’t know how much her life was going to change for the better.

My lifestyle changed throughout the years as I learned more. I started caring about the quality of food I put into my body and the products that I put on my body.

I did not change my eating habits overnight. I did; however, change the way I viewed food. I had to reevaluate my relationship with food because up to that point, it had been very toxic.

I overate and obsessed about food. I would restrict, then binge. Repeat. I was unkind to this beautiful vessel I was given, and in return, it was unkind to me.

I have experienced the contrast of health. I know what extreme fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, digestive distress, infertility, brain fog, and hopelessness feels like. Now, I know what vitality, sharp focus, high levels of energy, and unwavering faith feels like. And I want it for YOU too!

Just look at the two pictures below. The light and happiness in my eyes were gone. I was overweight, tired, and struggling.

I truly can’t imagine being a mother and feeling the way I did 7+ years ago. I would have drowned trying to keep up with my two very energetic boys.
