When both of my kiddos were around 10-12 months old, I started giving them small amounts of “superfood smoothies”.
I loved them (and still do) because I could pack a ton of nutrients into one drink and they were super easy and portable!
I find many people shy away from smoothies because they become overwhelmed with the choices and don’t know where to start.
I have created an awesome guide that anyone can use to make simple, nutrient packed smoothies for their kiddos!
This is also a great time of year to introduce smoothies because they are amazing immune boosters.
Keep in mind that this guide is not exhaustive. I couldn’t possibly list all of the beneficial vegetables and fruits you could use!
Instead, I picked the most popular ones that I find most kids enjoy.
Pro Tip #1: Make a smoothie and put some in a cup for you. Sip on it and comment on how delicious it is while your kiddos are nearby. Don’t even offer them some. Act like it’s the best thing you’ve ever drank IN YOUR LIFE. Soon the questions will start and then the begging will ensue. Act like you would rather not share and then do.
Pro Tip #2: Smoothie too thick? Add a little more liquid and blend again. Too runny? Add more base! Because it’s all about the base. Oh that was terrible. It’s not even spelled the same. Sorry guys.
Pro Tip #3: Start with combinations that you know your kiddos already love. Mine were and still are huge fans of banana and almond butter. Guess what I put in their smoothies? Oooo, you is smart!
Pro Tip #4: When you find a combination that your kiddos love, put the cut veggies, fruits, and dry ingredients in bags or storage containers and place in the freezer. Then all you have to do is add a liquid, a base, and a bag from the freezer! Super quick and easy!
Now that you’re armed with some amazing tips, here’s the guide!
